Michigan State Police are investigating a shooting incident in Branch County's Union Township.
Troopers from the Coldwater Detachment says a man was varmint hunting at 11 PM Wednesday in a field behind a home on Hodunk Road. A resident of the home mistook the hunter for wildlife and shot him. The hunter was not wearing any hunter's orange clothing.
The victim was flown from the scene to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. The name and condition of the victim, and the name of the suspect have not been released at this time as the incident remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the Union City Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance.
