ANGOLA - The National Weather Service of Northern Indiana confirmed the funnel clouds spotted in Angola were consistent with an EFU tornado classification.

Director of the Steuben County Emergency Agency Lee Greenamyer said the EFU touched down briefly on the west side of Angola just west of C.R. 200 W.

An EFU stands for Enhanced Fujita scale U, which means undetermined and there is no surveyable damage and the wind speed is not available.

The National Weather Service (NSW) stated the Enhanced Fujita Scale (EF Scale) is a scale that rates tornadoes based on estimated wind speeds and damage left behind.

The EF Scale has five classes, from EF0 to EF5.

Greenamyer said he believes the EFU classification is a first for Steuben County.

Other touchdowns confirmed by the NWS on May 7 include an EF1 in Union Lake, Michigan, an EF1 Dowagiac/Twin Lakes, Michigan, an EF1 in Melrose, Ohio, and an EF2 that traveled from St. Joseph County, Michigan and into Branch County, Michigan.

A detailed list of all damage surveyed by the NWS can be found HERE .
