Trine Men’s Golf Finish Runner Up in Second Adrian Event

The Trine University men's golf team took second place in a second single-round event hosted by Adrian (MI) College in as many days at Grande Golf Club in Jackson, MI.

All five of the individual scores eligible for the overall team total were in the top ten. Freshman Jack Brockie posted the lowest round of the day for Trine of 74 strokes and placed in a tie for third overall. Sophomore Mitch Lowney finished tied for fifth with an 18-hole score of 76 strokes and was followed by the duo of seniors Carlos Coeto and Todd Mieske who both carded rounds of 78 strokes to tie for ninth overall.

Freshman Mark Civanich finished a stroke behind Coeto and Mieske at 79 strokes to finish fifth on the team.

After the top four scores were calculated, Trine ended the afternoon with a team score of 306 strokes to grab second place out of five teams. Spring Arbor (MI) University won the event with 295 strokes and Adrian was third at 319 strokes.

A total of seven additional players competed for Trine as individuals and included senior Cameron Ruge who shot a round of 76 strokes to tie for fifth. Sophomore Mitch Blank and senior Zach Frane finished back-to-back in 19th and 21st place with scores of 83 and 84 strokes.

Junior Jeffery Uhls carded an 86 (t-23rd), followed by sophomore Jacob Roeder with an 87 (t-26th).

Rounding out the list of competitors were freshman Jordan Brandman and junior Justin Glessner who finished with rounds of 91 (30th) and 92 (31st) strokes, respectively.

Trine will travel to East Lansing, MI. next Saturday, Sept. 26 to compete in the second event of the season hosted by Olivet (MI) College. The one-day tournament is set to start at 1 p.m. at Forest Acres Golf Course.
