(HENDERSON, KY) - A 9-year-old Indiana Hoosiers fan tried his luck with the governor ahead of the national championship game.
Jack Gibson, a fourth-grader from the Tri-State area, wrote to Gov. Mike Braun asking for a two-hour school delay so students could stay up and watch the Hoosiers play. Gibson said he already has his snacks and "lucky IU gear" ready for game night.
The governor responded by praising Gibson's enthusiasm but said delaying school statewide would be difficult. Braun suggested catching up on sleep if parents allow kids to stay up late.
Indiana will play for the national title on Jan. 19 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, with a 7:30 p.m. Eastern kickoff.
