(WASHINTGON) - Federal health officials are warning consumers about a Super Greens diet supplement linked to a multistate salmonella outbreak.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says at least 45 people in 21 states have become sick after consuming Super Greens powder. Twelve people were hospitalized, but no deaths have been reported.
Superfoods Inc., which produces the Live it Up brand, has recalled several Super Greens products. The recall includes original and wild berry flavors with expiration dates ranging from August 2026 through January 2028.
Consumers are advised not to eat, sell or serve the recalled products and to either return them or throw them away.
Illnesses were reported between Aug. 22 and Dec. 30, 2025, in states including Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, New York and Wisconsin, among others.
The FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say their investigation is ongoing and warn that additional products could be affected. Salmonella infections commonly cause diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps. Most people recover within a week, but young children, older adults and those with weakened immune systems face a higher risk of serious illness.
