(ANGOLA) - With bitter cold settling in across northeast Indiana, Steuben County residents may be trading outdoor plans for something indoors -- and there's no shortage of ways to stay warm and entertained this weekend, according to the Steuben County Tourism Bureau.
Art lovers can start at the gallery at Angola Performing Arts Academy, which is hosting Insect Collective, an exhibit highlighting the dramatic designs found in nature. The show runs Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at 45 S. Public Square in Angola.
If movement is more your style, Angola Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a free yoga class Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at Commons Hall. The class is open to all skill levels and offers a calm start to a frigid weekend.
Creative minds can try their hand at macramé during a hands-on workshop hosted by Elemento in downtown Angola. The workshop runs Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. and costs $35. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (260) 316-7801.
Families looking for kid-friendly options can head to Pokagon State Park, where the nature center is offering two indoor programs. Saturday's Turtle Time program begins at 10:30 a.m. and gives visitors a close-up look at feeding time with the park naturalist. On Sunday, Woodland Window Bingo runs from 1 to 3 p.m., inviting participants to spot birds and wildlife from inside the center.
For those who want to think warmer thoughts, the annual Taste of the Lakes returns Saturday at Dry Dock Marine Center. Nine area businesses will be on hand with food and specials, while Satek Winery will offer free tastings from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Visitors can browse boats and accessories anytime between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. -- a welcome reminder that lake season will eventually return.
Whether you're stretching, crafting, learning, or sampling local flavors, Steuben County has plenty of indoor options to help chase away the winter chill.
