(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana lawmakers are entering the final week of the 2026 legislative session with several major issues still unresolved before the expected adjournment Friday.

The Indiana Capital Chronicle reports top items under negotiation include a Republican-backed housing bill that would limit local zoning controls to boost construction, proposed restrictions on youth access to social media without parental consent, and a financing framework for a possible Chicago Bears stadium in Hammond.

Lawmakers are also weighing legislation that could authorize a new casino in northeast Indiana, potentially in Steuben, DeKalb or Allen counties, along with a bill requiring local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.

Other proposals -- including a plan to shorten early voting -- appear unlikely to advance.

With the session shortened this year, leaders from both parties warn the fast pace could leave unresolved problems that may need to be revisited in future sessions. Here's a link to the full Indiana Capital Chronicle article.
