(OHIO) - High winds have prompted travel restrictions for certain vehicles along the Ohio Turnpike.

According to the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission, a high-wind restriction is in effect across the entire 241-mile toll road beginning at 12:01 a.m. Friday and continuing through 11:59 p.m. Friday.

The restriction applies to high-profile and vulnerable vehicles that are more susceptible to strong wind gusts.

Vehicles prohibited from traveling during the restriction include commercial trucks pulling empty 53-foot trailers or tankers, high-profile tow-behind trailers such as campers and boats taller than seven feet six inches, mobile homes, livestock trailers, and certain long-combination vehicles. Some larger buses are also restricted.

Passenger cars, pickup trucks, and most commercial trucks pulling loaded trailers are still permitted to travel on the turnpike.

Turnpike officials say the roadway remains open to most traffic, but restrictions are being closely monitored as weather conditions change.

Travelers can find the latest updates at the Ohio Turnpike website.
