(INDIANAPOLIS) - A new wave of political ads is targeting Indiana Republican state senators who opposed congressional redistricting tied to former President Donald Trump's push to reshape district maps.

According to the Indiana Capital Chronicle, the ads are backed by Hoosier Leadership for America, a group linked to U.S. Senator Jim Banks. The campaign is targeting at least five Republican senators facing primary challengers endorsed by Trump.

Those targeted include Senators Jim Buck, Spencer Deery, Greg Goode, Travis Holdman and Greg Walker.

The ads criticize the lawmakers for opposing what is described as Trump's plan to remove Democrats from Congress, while also highlighting votes on issues such as taxes and foreign land ownership.

The Indiana Capital Chronicle reports the ads are running on television, radio and digital platforms, including YouTube, in multiple markets across the state.

Some of the targeted lawmakers have pushed back on the campaign. Senator Greg Walker called the ads "over the top and ridiculous," while Senator Spencer Deery said the effort appears to be driven by outside groups rather than local voters.

It is unclear how much is being spent on the ad campaign, but Trump-aligned organizations have indicated they plan to heavily invest in the upcoming May primary.
