(FORT WAYNE) - Indiana Governor Mike Braun says the state may need to take another look at marijuana legalization.

Braun recently said he is "agnostic" on medical marijuana, but noted that with neighboring states allowing some form of legal cannabis, the issue may need to be addressed.

Marijuana remains illegal in Indiana, despite multiple attempts at legalization in recent years.

Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio all allow recreational and medical use, while Kentucky permits medical marijuana only.

A Ball State University survey found more than 60 percent of Hoosiers support full legalization, with another quarter backing medical-only use.

State Representative Jim Lucas has repeatedly introduced legalization proposals, though none have advanced out of committee. He says potential tax revenue and budget pressures could bring renewed attention to the issue.

Opponents of legalization continue to raise concerns about impaired driving and youth access.

Lawmakers are expected to revisit the topic during a future legislative session.
