(ANGOLA) - A popular outdoor event inspired by Hoosier artist Bob Ross is returning to Indiana, with options for participants to take part locally.
The "Run for the Trees: Happy Little 5K" is a virtual event that allows participants to run, walk, or hike a 5K at a location of their choice between April 18 and April 26.
Organizers say the event supports tree planting and forest health initiatives across Indiana State Parks.
Registration costs $36 and includes a themed T-shirt, commemorative bib, and finisher medal.
For those who prefer a group setting, Pokagon State Park will host a guided 3.5-mile walk on April 25 at 2 p.m. Participants will meet at the CCC Shelter, with refreshments provided afterward. The event will also feature a display by the Northern Indiana Plein Air Artists Association.
The event is open to all ages and can be completed on foot, by bike, paddle, or mobility device.
Registration is available online through early April or until participant limits are reached.
