(LAGRANGE) - Indiana animal health officials are confirming another spike in bird flu cases in LaGrange County. Six new detections were reported Wednesday, bringing the county's total to 11 outbreaks in just one week. The latest cases involve six flocks totaling more than 107,000 birds. All affected sites are now under quarantine, and state officials have activated a 10-kilometer control zone along with a 20-kilometer surveillance zone covering parts of Elkhart, LaGrange, and Noble counties. The State Board of Animal Health says Indiana remains the top duck-producing state in the country--making rapid detection and containment especially critical.
