(DEKALB COUNTY) - Two passengers were taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening at County Road 19 and County Road 40.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened around 6:42.

Investigators say 76-year-old Linda Jackson of Huntertown was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado east on County Road 40, while 26-year-old Josiah Somkit of Waterloo was heading north on County Road 19 in a 2024 Subaru Outback.

Deputies say both vehicles entered the intersection, where the Silverado struck the Subaru on the driver's side.

The Subaru then went into the northeast ditch, spun and came to rest upright in a nearby field. The Silverado continued through the intersection and stopped east of the crash scene.

The Subaru was considered totaled. The Silverado suffered heavy front-end damage.

Two passengers in the Subaru, 60-year-old Deliah Somkit and 63-year-old Mao Somkit, both of Waterloo, were taken to a local hospital with complaints of pain.

Both drivers reported no injuries.

The sheriff's office was assisted by Auburn Police, Parkview EMS, Corunna Fire, central dispatch and Jeff's Towing.
