(STEUBEN COUNTY) - A local candidate for prosecutor is picking up a key endorsement ahead of the primary.
State Representative Ben Smaltz has announced his support for Stephanie Hamilton in the race for Steuben County Prosecutor.
In a statement, Smaltz called Hamilton a "trusted friend and neighbor" and said she supports fair justice, responsible use of resources, and results-driven drug court programs.
He also said Hamilton would uphold both the Indiana and U.S. Constitutions and lead with integrity.
The endorsement comes as voters prepare for the May 5 primary election.
