(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana has submitted its 2026-27 migratory bird hunting seasons to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The seasons cover mourning dove, waterfowl--including ducks, coots, mergansers and geese--along with woodcock, snipe and sora rails.

State officials say most bag limits remain unchanged from the previous year.

For ducks, the daily bag limit stays the same, including a restriction on scaup--limited to one per day during the first 15 days of the season, then increasing to two per day for the remainder.

Canada geese and brant have a combined daily bag limit of five birds. Hunters may take any combination of the two, as long as the total does not exceed five.

Light geese, including snow and Ross's geese, maintain a daily bag limit of 20.

White-fronted geese are regulated separately. Their season will be closed during the first and second segments of Canada goose season, then reopen during the third segment. The daily bag limit is set at two.

The possession limit for most migratory birds is three times the daily bag limit. Light geese remain an exception, with no possession limit.

More information on specific dates and regulations is available through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
