(ANGOLA) - Angola's Snow Removal Ordinance is now officially in effect as heavy snowfall blankets the region.

Under the ordinance, anyone who parks on city streets, alleys, public squares, or designated public lots must move their vehicle every 24 hours. The goal is to give street crews the space they need to plow and keep roads safe.

Officials say enforcement kicks in whenever snowfall totals top four inches, with the final call made jointly by the Chief of Police and the City Street Superintendent.

Here's how it works:

A first violation earns a red tag on your vehicle.

Ignore that tag for another 24 hours, and your vehicle could be towed -- at your expense.

The city is urging cooperation from residents to help keep Angola's streets clear and safe throughout the winter season.
