(DEKALB COUNTY) - A Michigan truck driver is under investigation for operating while intoxicated after his lumber-loaded semi overturned Sunday night on State Road 1. The crash happened around 7:40 p.m. Sheriff's deputies say 56-year-old Floyd Martin of Allegan, Michigan, was heading south when his Freightliner drifted off the west side of the road and into a ditch. The semi and trailer rolled onto the passenger side, spilling part of its load of lumber.
Martin was trapped inside the cab until fire crews pulled him out. EMS treated him for facial injuries, but he refused further medical care.
Deputies say Martin showed signs of impairment and was taken to the DeKalb County Jail for an OWI investigation. Damage to the semi is estimated between $50,000 and $100,000. The crash remains uner investigation.
