FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WLKI)- Indiana State Police Fort Wayne District dayshift troopers made more than 120 traffic contacts during the Labor Day weekend as part of increased holiday enforcement efforts.
According to Indiana State Police, troopers had 124 traffic contacts over the weekend, resulting in 46 citations and 78 warnings.
Enforcement focused on occupant protection and dangerous driving behaviors. Troopers issued nine seat belt citations and four child restraint citations. They also issued 21 citations for moving violations and 63 warnings for moving violations.
State police said increased visibility and enforcement during high-traffic holiday weekends are intended to reduce crashes, prevent injuries and help motorists reach their destinations safely.
Indiana State Police is encouraging drivers to remain alert, wear their seat belts and practice safe driving habits throughout the year.
