ANGOLA, Ind. (WLKI)- Seaplanes from across the Midwest are expected to return to Lake James later this month for the 24th annual Seaplane Splash-In at Pokagon State Park.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 27, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

Visitors will be able to watch seaplanes take off and land on Lake James, meet pilots, tour aircraft and learn more about seaplane aviation. Organizers also expect to offer a raffle that could give attendees a chance to win a seaplane ride.

Zack Willig, president of the Indiana Seaplane Pilots Association, said the gathering gives the public an opportunity to see the skill and preparation involved in seaplane operations.

Boaters are asked to observe designated takeoff and landing areas marked by orange buoys and to minimize wakes near the Potawatomi Inn during event hours.
