BATTLE CREEk, MI — One person is dead after an accident at the Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show on Saturday afternoon.

The Battle Creek Police Department said it happened around 1:10 p.m. during the pyrotechnic portion of the show.

The accident reportedly involved a jet truck which is part of Darnell Racing Enterprises. The truck itself exploded during a race between two planes while it was traveling up to 300 mile per hour.

The rest of the Field of Flight Air Show was canceled for the remainder of Saturday out of respect for the accident, while emergency crews responded to the scene.
