(DEKALB COUNTY) – Minor injuries were reported when a vehicle struck a semi.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says that 58 year old Scott Wiegers of Indianapolis was driving north on I-69 near the 337 mile marker at 1:10 PM Friday in the passing lane. Wiegers says he was eating a cheeseburger and looked down to find the last part of his burger in the wrapper.

The vehicle drifted to the right, crossing into the driving lane, with his front passenger side collided with the rear driver side of a northbound semi. Wiegers lost control of his vehicle and eventually hit a guard rail before coming to rest in the roadway.

The semi kept going north, and the driver said he didn’t realize there had been a collision.

Wiegers had minor hand lacerations and refused medical treatment. His vehicle was a total loss.

Assisting at the scene were the Waterloo Marshal’s Office, the Waterloo Fire Department and the Indiana State Police.
