(LANSING) – The State of Michigan does not have a budget for the upcoming year.
Michigan lawmakers failed to meet a July 1 deadline to have a State budget approved and in place. The Michigan Senate adjourned their session early Tuesday evening. That means Michigan is overdue for a plan to fund schools, roads and government programs.
Both Republican and Democratic lawmakers say they are very disappointed that an agreement couldn’t be reached by the July 1 date, and are pointing fingers at each other for the stalemate.
There’s no word on when lawmakers will reconvene to get a budget agreement approved.
