(COLDWATER) – Sentence has been given to a Bronson man involved in stealing a vehicle and a police pursuit.

Branch County Circuit Court officials say 51 year old Scott Calloway was sentenced to four to ten years in prison. On April 29, Calloway plead guilty to second degree fleeing from a police officer. With that plea, the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office dismissed charges of assaulting, resisting and obstructing a police officer; possession of methamphetamine; and receiving and concealing a stolen vehicle.

On January 26, a 2016 Toyota Tacoma was reported stolen from Clinton County, and spotted in Coldwater on the City’s Automated License Plate Reader System. A Branch County Sheriff’s Deputy tried to stop the vehicle at Chicago Road and Michigan Avenue, but Calloway drove away with speeds getting over 100 MPH.

The chase ended in a field near Garfield and Nash Roads. Calloway and his passenger, 30 year old Stephanie Thyng of Bronson, got out of the vehicle and ran away, but were apprehended. While searching the vehicle, officers found what appeared to be meth inside of a flashlight.

Calloway was given credit for 150 days already served in the Branch County Jail.
