(ALGANSEE TOWNSHIP) – A fire in a Branch County house is being blamed on discarded staining materials.
The Quincy Fire Department was dispatched to 490 South Fremont Road in Algansee Township at 4:30 PM Wednesday for a house fire. The Coldwater and Lakeland Fire Departments responded to provide mutual aid.
Quincy Fire Chief Mike Sherman says firefighters found heavy fire on the first floor of the two story house, but were able to bring it under control in about an hour. The blaze extended into the walls and attic space throughout the home, which made for a lengthy overhaul process.
Sherman says the home is currently under renovation and was unoccupied at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
