(UNDATED) – Authorities executed three search warrants Wednesday at different locations in Branch County.

The Southwest Enforcement Team South Detectives along with the Michigan State Police Marijuana and Tobacco Investigators Section executed the search warrants following a joint investigation into black market Butane Hash Oil production.

The searches recovered over 2,000 pounds of marijuana intended for BHO conversion, 312 marijuana plants, 32 pounds of BHO, psilocybin mushrooms, Dimethyltryptamine (DMT), suspected MDMA, and three firearms. Evidence of commercial BHO production and distribution was found at the locations.

The Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act allows legal marijuana possession, consumption, and production, but black market marijuana and BHO evade testing, taxation, and safety inspections. BHO production laws prohibit operations in residential areas due to volatility; this lab was 60 feet from a home with young children.

Warrants were served in the 600 Block of Warren Road in Ovid Township, and the 800 Block of Marshall Road in Girard Township. A hazmat contractor removed the illegal lab, containing butane, hexane, pentane, and other regulated chemicals.

Multiple individuals face charges.

SWET and MTI were aided by the Ovid Township Fire Department, The Michigan State Police MSP Aviation Unit, and troopers from the Marshall Regional Law Enforcement Complex.
